ASI…Sharing Jesus in the Marketplace

This coming Wednesday, August 21 to 24, 2019 the Atlantic Caribbean Union (ATCU) will be the host to the Inter-American Division (IAD) Adventist Laymen’s Services Industries (ASI) annual convention. This is the first time that this prestigious convention of church leaders and laymen will be held in The Bahamas.  This event will be held at the Atlantis Resort,  Paradise   Island;   registration starts at 9: 30a.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.

In attendance will be leaders from the IAD, inclusive of Dr. Elie Henry, President, who will give the keynote address and Dr. Leonard Johnson, Executive Secretary.  Pastor John Bradshaw from the well-known Television broadcast, “It Is Written,” will be the devotional speaker. Government and civic leaders are expected to be in attendance, the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Dr., The Most Honourable, Hubert Minnis will give greetings on behalf of the government and people of the Bahamas.

Bahamians are rolling out the red carpet to receive over 300 guests from throughout the IAD territory. The program begins on Wednesday evening with an expression of Bahamian culture depicting our rich history.

Adventist Laymen’s Services & Industries (ASI), is an organization of Seventh-day Adventist church members who own or work in business, in professional vocations, in self-supporting ministries and in private and public sectors.

The uniqueness of ASI is twofold:

  1. It recognizes that our time, talents, treasures and body temple belong to God. We are stewards of these possessions.
  2. Accordingly, we believe that our vocations can and should be a ministry to aid in the advancement of the great gospel commission (Luke 19:13; Testimonies vol. 4, p. 469).

ASI is committed to supporting the Seventh-day Adventist Church and its various outreach programs which include health, education, evangelism, community services, family concerns and special projects.

ASI members are men and women from nearly every walk of life. They represent all the diversity that is found within our church. ASI has membership throughout the world, including The Bahamas.

ASI’s philosophy promotes a Christ-centered lifestyle, manifested by a commitment to be in daily partnership with God. Members seek to experience God's love in their own lives and share that love with the millions of people they encounter in their business and professional activities each day —hence ASI's motto: Sharing Christ in the Marketplace.  If you have not joined ASI as yet, I invite you to sign-up now and be a part of this exciting weekend.

-Pastor Melvin Lewis, Coordinator, Adventist - Laymen’s Services and Industries - Atlantic Caribbean Union.
