Work in progress. Return here for updates January 3.
Many persons are frustrated, and disillusioned about the future. Some individuals have given up on the idea of upward mobility and have decided to remain where they are for the rest of their lives. The Holy Scripture teaches us that it is God’s desire is for us to continue to grow and develop all areas of our lives, namely: spiritually (character), educationally, mentally, emotionally, and financially.
The Good News Seventh-day Adventist Church is committed to doing its part to help persons grow; to improve on what they are doing now, and to restore a new vision for lives that have been broken. It is within this vain that we invite all churches within our conference to attend our first annual College Fair and Career Day. This exciting event will be held at the Good News Church in Flamingo Gardens on August 13, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Adventist Universities at the event will be Northern Caribbean University, Mandeville Jamaica; Southern Caribbean University, Trinidad; and Antillean Adventist University, Puerto Rico. The University of the Bahamas, BTVI, and our own Bahamas Academy will also have booths at the fair. The career booths will feature a wide range of occupations and professions, included but not limited to: The Medical Field, Law Enforcement, Vocational Careers, Entrepreneurship, and representatives from the World of Finance.
If there are persons in your church, or your community who would like to obtain a college education, have the opportunity to attend Bahamas Academy, or simply improve their lives; come and be exposed to these schools and many careers that you may have never considered pursuing before. The ultimate goal of this event is to equip more persons with the skills needed to fulfill the gospel commission, so that together we will be able to give better service to God and humanity.

With a passion for healthy living and desiring to have the knowledge how help others live healthily, Lanardo Rolle, a 29-year-old vibrant Adventist Youth from Exuma (photo on the left) decided to go to Hartland College, Virginia, in September 2014, to train as a health educator. His passion grew as he envisioned sharing what he learned with his home-town church, in Exuma, The Bahamas.
On one occasion, while visiting home, he made a presentation on different health issues and natural remedies. It was so well received it encouraged him to do more. When he returned to Hartland, the impression became stronger to share what he was learning and began making plans to organize a mission to Exuma to conduct two weeks of Health Evangelism at the Rolleville Seventh-day Adventist Church, Exuma, The Bahamas. He began gathering support and funds from his friends and teachers at Hartland College to do the project. Thus on July 25, 2017, a series called “Health Improvement Seminar” started at the Rolleville Church. The speakers include Angela Pulley, Director of Hartland Lifestyle Center, Lanardo Rolle Health Ministry student Hartland College, Shantavia Gittens, Lifestyle Educator. The series ends on August 6, 2017. So far the meetings are well attended and the listeners are very excited with the knowledge being shared. The meetings are being held nightly at 7 p.m.
Note readers that Exuma is another island in The Bahamas located 145 miles southeast of New Providence. It is a lovely tourist resort with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world with a population of about 7,300. There are three Adventist Churches on the island—Mount Thompson, Moss Town and Rolleville.
Below are photos from the event.
