Work in progress. Return here for updates January 3.
The great and wonderful work of the last gospel message is to be carried on now, as it has never been before. The world is to receive the light of truth through an evangelizing ministry of the word in our books and periodicals. Our publications are to “show that the end of all things is at hand.”
A vital part of the church’s mission at this crucial time in earth’s history is to circulate literature “as never before.” From the beginnings of Adventist publishing, divine counsel was given that church members were to sell and freely give away literature for gospel outreach. God has extended opportunities for performing this dual ministry. Every member in His family of believers appreciates the blessing received.
The ultimate goal of the publishing department is to win souls. In winning souls to Christ, there is no substitute for personal work. If literature evangelists were working in every district in the conference, they would make a great impact and complement the work of the pastor. It is important to underscore "The canvassing work is a work of great responsibility, meaning much to the men and women who engage in it. We are living in a time when there is a great work to be done, and what better opportunity can we have to give the call to the supper Christ has prepared?" Colporteur Ministry, pg. 15
The Publishing Department exists to proclaim the gospel of hope to the whole world in this generation with publications and other forms of media given through personal contacts. This department oversees the work of Literature Evangelism in all of
its forms for the South Bahamas Conference. This includes the work of our Literature Evangelists throughout our local field, summer student literature evangelist programs, school literature evangelism programs, and free literature distribution programs.
In conclusion, Ellen G. White stated, “We are fast approaching the end. The printing and circulation of the books and papers that contain the truth for this time are to be our work.” Testimonies vol. 8, p. Let us harness the spirit of witnessing and purchase and book, give a book! Not relenting until the great Evangelist ushers in His presence. Happy Book Day!
