Overcoming Obstacles

Article by D’Nevia Seymour, Head Girl; Bahamas Academy

God’s grace is immeasurable, His mercy is inexhaustible, His peace is inexpressible” (kuyamac.tumblr.com). As a student having spent fourteen years at Bahamas Academy, it is without doubt that I can proclaim that this institution has equipped me with the tools for success.

I have been exposed to godly staff members who have instilled principles that enable students to grow closer to God. Numerous times we wonder how we are able to overcome so many obstacles in our lives and the answer is simply, “By the grace of God!” I have always known that in God, I was capable of doing whatever I placed my mind to. In my grade twelve year at Bahamas Academy, God has blessed me beyond my expectations.

Becoming the 2016-2017 Head Girl as well as The National Future Teacher Cadet of the Year, in April 2017, has demonstrated God’s unconditional and immeasurable love to me. He has copious blessings for each of us. In my capacity of the head girl of Bahamas Academy, I serve students daily. It is my practice to model dedication and servitude ensuring that I make a positive impact on the lives of the students. I consider it a privilege to interact and minister on a daily basis. If we are Christ-like in our

service at school and in the community, it will be reflected in the way our students model Christ.

I am so proud to announce that the student body is thriving through the power of Christ. Recently, we had one of our very own, Gabrielle Gibson, a grade 11 student, medaled in all her track events. Additionally, Shari Lunn dominated the Bible Boom at the Inter-American Division Camporee held in the Dominican Republic. We say congratulations to them.

The Lord has guided me through a number of speaking opportunities at churches in The Bahamas. To spread the message of Christ and His limitless love to all is one of the greatest joys of my life! I am reminded of a scripture found in Jeremiah 29:11 which says, “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” The plan of God for your life is bigger than any dream or thought you can imagine. This is evidenced by His faithfulness to us. Imagine what life would have been without Him… hopeless!
