On Saturday, May 25, 2019, the South Andros and Mangrove Cay District received a special visit from the Treasury Department of the South Bahamas Conference in the person of Brother Okell Demastus, Auditor of the Conference.

Bro. Damastus traveled from New Providence to South Andros as a part of the auditor's program for providing adequate auditing services to all 49 Adventist Churches in the South Bahamas Conference.  His job requires him to personally visit each church to review the books of church and to teach and provide the latest information available.  This job can be tedious, but yet an important function of the auditor is to help churches become more efficient in the area of finances.  (Left photo:  Okell Damastus)

A joint Sabbath service was held at the Blessed Hope Seventh-day Adventist Church, Driggs Hill, Andros, The Bahamas and almost one hundred Adventists attended the service. Members from Mangrove Cay Church had to travel on a short boat ride to reach the destination.

The day started with the auditor, Bro. Okell Damastus, bringing greetings from the administration of the Conference--Pastors Kenny Deveaux, President; Leonardo Rahming, Executive Secretary; Kimberly Bryan, Chief Financial Officer.  He also delivered a sermon during the Divine Worship entitled "Stop Cheating" which dealt with the importance of setting priorities. Among the congregations present were Mangrove Cay, Blessed Hope, High Rock, Kemp's Bay, and New Macedonia. Both the sermon and the greetings were received with a resounding 'Amen' and local Pastor, Kareem Black was pleased with the assembly .

The day concluded with a treasury and clerk workshop in which all the treasurers and clerks within the district were present and accounted for. Among the topics covered were creating a budget, financial report, bank and remittance reconciliation, and creating board and business meeting minutes. The representatives present made accolades to the Treasury Department and administration of the Conference for such a timely and much-needed workshop.

Upon closing, the brothers and sisters gave special thanks and noted how they look forward to next year when the Treasury Department and Conference administration plan to expand on what has taken place. We say to God be the glory, great things He had done!
