Education Director

The Seventh-day Adventist Church desires through all its educational programs to help prepare the youth for effective citizenship on this earth and for rewarding citizenship in the new earth.

The educational program of the Church gives primary emphasis to character building and to the spiritual foundations in the lives of its children and youth. Moreover, it makes abundant provision for the acquisition and interpretation of that which is appropriate from the store of common secular knowledge and skills for mental, social, vocational, and physical development.

It is for this sole purpose that Bahamas Academy has existed for the past 109 years. Please visit us at

"The aim of true education is to restore human beings into the image of God as revealed by the life of Jesus Christ.   Only through the guidance of the Holy Spirit can this be accomplished. An education of this kind imparts far more than academic knowledge. It fosters a balanced development of the whole person—spiritual, physical, intellectual, and social-emotional—a process that spans a lifetime. Working together, homes, schools, and churches cooperate with divine agencies to prepare learners to be good citizens in this world and for eternity."

Bahamas Academy is a Seventh-day Adventist school operating in Nassau, Bahamas. Founded in 1912, it is owned and operated by the South Bahamas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, approved by the Bahamas Ministry of Education, and accredited by the Adventist Accrediting Association. Bahamas Academy is governed by the School Board which is chaired by Pastor Kenny Deveaux, president of the South Bahamas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

Bahamas Academy has three divisions: The Early Learning Center (Grades K2 - K5), the Elementary Division (Grades 1 - 6), and the Secondary Division (Grades 7 - 12). Currently, the student population is 786 and the staff population is 85. The staff to student ratio is 1: 9.

Bahamas Academy aspires to train the head, heart, and hands of a child. Our goal is to provide a holistic education that will create the best citizens now, but more importantly, prepare students for a place in heaven. We aim daily to achieve this goal. With over 100 years of operation, Bahamas Academy is certainly an educational success story in many ways. Why not make us your school of choice? For information on enrollment, see our admission page
