Logos for September 26, 2020--Faith in Times of Covid-19. Our local gym is closed because of the coronavirus, and my wife and I started to take walks around the neighborhood. In our afternoon walks, we’ve noticed that there are parents with strollers, families biking, adult and elderly couples exercising and others walking their dogs. It’s been very interesting, to observe their reactions when they see other people from afar, they immediately change direction, turn back, switch sidewalks, and the boldest divert ten feet from the other person; It’s like they’ve seen “the” imminent threat and they just want to get away as far as possible.

Logos for September 12, 2020--Remembering Pastor Hugh A. Roach. Hureta "Hugh" Allison Roach was born on the beautiful island of Nassau at the Bahamas General Hospital on May 15, 1935.  He received his primary education on the islands of Nassau, Exuma and Abaco under the watchful eyes of iconic Bahamian educators such as T. G. Glover, H.O. Nash, Carlton Francis, and many others. Hugh was a diligent student and demonstrated his academic prowess when he passed the Cambridge Junior Certificate at the age of 15 and the Cambridge Senior Certificate at 16.

It provides the atmosphere for worship, setting the stage for celebration or contemplation. It brings the members of the congregation into one body as they sing; and it touches the hearts of those who may be untouched by the spoken word. Music is also an avenue of communication with God. It ‘is one of the most effective means of impressing the heart with spiritual truth’ (Ed 168). Accordingly, it is an important and integral part of the worship experience.
